Le domaine

Our work in the cellar is a continuation of our involvement in the vineyard. We let the terroir express itself by minimising human intervention. This philosophy reveals the unique personality of Château Bas d'Aumelas wines.

Tradition and simplicity

In the cellar, we focus on simple, traditional winemaking. Our winery is made up of old concrete vats dating back to our grandfather Philippe d'ALBENAS, with epoxy lining and fibreglass vats. For several vintages now, we have been investing in temperature-controlled stainless steel vats to ensure slow fermentation and preserve the freshness of the grapes.

Barrels of excellence

Our iconic vintages, Egérie red and Egérie white, are refined by ageing in barrels made by the Stockinger cooperage. This family-run business, nestling at the foot of the Austrian Alps, is considered by experts to be one of the world's best traditional cooperages for its unique barrel production. They give the wines a distinctive complexity.

Experiencing with the amphora

We began our experiment with the 2020 vintage of Château Bas red. On tasting, the wine aged in a terracotta amphora reveals an exceptional frankness. It adds aromatic finesse and length to the wine. A container in tune with our philosophy of revealing the purity of our terroir.
